# Proofpoint

> Proofpoint is a cybersecurity and compliance company that provides solutions to protect organizations from various threats, including email and data security risks. It offers a range of products and services designed to safeguard businesses against advanced threats, such as phishing attacks, malware, ransomware, and data breaches.

## Creating a Proofpoint connection

Create the connection by using one of the following methods:

* [Username & Password](#using-username-and-password)
* [API Key](#using-api-key)

### Using Username and Password

To create the connection you need:

* An User Email
* A Password
* An API Address

#### Obtaining the credentials

Follow the [Proofpoint documentation](https://us1.proofpointessentials.com/api/v1/docs/index.php#authentication) to obtain the credentials.

#### Creating your connection

1. In the Blink platform, navigate to the **Connections** page > **Add connection**. A New Connection dialog box opens displaying icons of external service providers available.

2. Select the **Proofpoint** icon. A dialog box with name of the connection and connection methods appear.

3. (Optional) Edit the name of the connection. At a later stage you cannot edit the name.

4. Select **Username & Password** as the method to create the connection.

5. Fill in the parameters:

   * The User Email
   * The Password
   * The API Address

6. (Optional) Click **Test Connection** to test it.

7. Click **Create connection**. The new connection appears on the **Connections** page.

### Using API Key

To create the connection you need:

* An API Key
* An API Address
